What to do if someone hacked TeamViewer account?
As we all know that the users of TeamViewer is increasing rapidly day by day and the cases of accounts hacked is also increased and has been viral on social media platforms.
Many peoples are complaining that someone hacked TeamViewer account and that person is accessing its devices. Usually in these cases hackers will steal your account and credit card details first and makes different purchases with that.
For this TeamViewer team is saying that these accounts are hacked due to poor password strength hence first they all need to keep a secure passwords and even people can save their details after been hacked by someone if they have used secure and different passwords for their account. As mostly peoples keep the same password for all their social media platforms, banks and other online sources, so that it is easy for a hacker to access all their profiles they are using with that passwords.
Has your TeamViewer account is also been hacked?
Don’t worry, we are here for your help. To check this you need to do little bit investigation with your account to check from where hacker break your security jail and find some evidence against hacker.
First you need to check your connection logs that whom you connected your PC are all they known or not.
Log checking steps is different in different operating systems so don’t think that how this is different.
If you want to check the logs in Windows please move on with these steps:
- Go to upper right corner and click on tool kit.
- Click on the Open Logfiles button showing there.
- There are some files named connection first you need to open them.
If you want to access TeamViewer full version and Host module log files in windows please follow these steps:
- There you can see Extra option you need to click on that.
- Select Open Log Files
- There are some files named connections.txt and connections_incoming.txt you have to open that.
If you are looking to access log files in Mac please go through these steps:
- You need to start the console app which you can find here (/Applications/Utilities/Console).
- Check in Files -> ~/Library/Logs/TeamViewer
- Click and open connections.txt there.
If you are using linux please take a look at these steps:
- As you know that in linux you need to do it through command line.
- On command line you need to run a command with root teamviewer -ziplog.
- Now you need to unzip that file.
- There you will get files named connections.txt and connections_incoming.txt here you have to open that files.
Once you have opened all files, please check all the login IPs except your owns. If you find there any other and unknown IP from a strange location your system may be hacked that time.
If there is any problem and you don’t know how to check our own IP please visit google and search for my IP. Google will show your your connection’s IP there.
Now what to do when someone hacked TeamViewer account and accessing it?
As you have checked through above mentioned steps that your account is hacked or not. If you find your account is hacked, there are many ways to remove that hacker and keep your account secure.
First you need to call and register a complaint to teamviewer team. To connect them you can call on (1800)-(951)-(4573) to contact their English language CCEs and if you want to connect their Spanish language CCEs you need to call on (1800)-(865)-(9123) or you can also create a ticket for that.
One more thing you need to do here if someone hacked TeamViewer account, that you can run a scan on your system to check that any malicious app or software has not been installed by hacker in your system.
