Keep Your Skin Happy and Healthy This Summer

Summer is here in complete force, which means several of us are spending more time outdoor, at clambakes, on vacations, on sunbeds, and in swimming pools. It all feels fabulous, but in between the hot dogs and the water drives, it can be natural to forget that for the rest of the year, your skin is pretty much disappeared away from the outer world.




Burning, itching, annoyed skin are normal problems during the summertime, and without the usual protection, overexposure to the sun can commence to dangerous, potentially deadly skin cancers. Fortunately, all of the aforementioned are completely avoidable, if you are active, and if you take some anticipations to protect yourself before, through and after your time in the sun.

Here are our best tips for staying secure and comfortable this summer, while still being ready to take full advantage of the hotter months.

 

Observe your time in straightforward sunlight

This is the prime, most obvious and simplest way to stay safe in the sun. Of course, the sun is going to be powerful around the middle of the day, so if you are out then, make sure that you are covered up somehow (we will come to that next), and attempt to take regular rests in the shade.

You might assume like you never need to leave the sunshine once you are in it, but believe us, if you exceed it, you will regret it later on when the headaches and irritated skin start to appear. As a general rule of thumb, for each hour you spend in the sun, try and spend 15 minutes indoors or under shelter.

 

Wear sunscreen (SPF 45+)

Another one your origins probably spent a lot of time baiting you about, sunscreen is essential for a couple of reasons. First off, it helps to defend your skin against harming UV rays. We know, you’re stoked about getting a nice bronze tan, but when it comes at the value of possible skin cancer, reducing down and applying sunscreen is just bright, you know? We suggest a sunscreen with sun shield factor of 45 of above. And FYI, a t-shirt apparently won’t cut it if you’re going to be consuming time in the sun. A common white t-shirt has an SPF of just 4!

Also, the swimming pool is not a useful substitute for sunscreen, and in fact, may increase your vulnerability to UV rays. Always use sunscreen if you’re going to be spending a sensible amount of time in the sun. You’ll still get a right tan, only without having to worry about melanomas.

Another analysis sunscreen is so important is that it helps to prevent your skin from drying out. Many sunscreens are dry-touch, too, meaning they don’t feel adhesive or creamy. No reasons anymore, boys and girls!




 

Stay hydrated – Drink extra (Non-Alcoholic beverages) than you think you should

When it’s burning out, you need to take liquids more than you regularly would. Even if you’re not running or doing anything that difficult, you’ll sweat more, and if you’re taking alcohol as well, you’ll be extra dehydrated than usual, so drinking a small glass of lime water for every two beers or glasses of wine is a fabulous idea. Drinking more will also benefit to keep your skin looking and feeling fresh and plump, and not like the old leather purse you’ll stop up like if you ignore this advice.

If you get a bit annoyed with drinking water then a great way to stir it up is to use a soda stream machine. With the do it yourself house models you can produce a wide variety of healthy, and not so healthy, drinks. There is a wide category of home soda producers available so there is no reason to get dehydrated this summer.

 

Scale and moisturize in the evening

Surely, your skin probably will get a slightly dry and red. If you’re at the shore, chances are it’ll get a little salty, too, and so taking care of your body’s biggest organ should be a preference once the evening rolls around.

Start with a lukewarm shower, then, using a natural pumice rock and/or a natural exfoliating wash, start to separate all of the dry, dead skin that’s built throughout the day. A quality moisturizer is the next necessary step to restoring your skin to its previous glory and making it ready for another day of full-on summer. We love anything coconut oil, but moisturizers with shea butter are also excellent for summertime skin soothing.

 

Get plenty of sleep

This one implements to the year-round healthy skin, but it’s perhaps especially relevant through the summer when parties can go on lasting into the night. Tired, dull-looking skin are often the result of you not getting enough sleep. If you’re feeling like your skin is not looking its normal, and you’ve attempted all of the interventions and preventions mentioned in this study, then getting a little bit extra shut-eye could be all you need.

 

To recap:

  • Monitor time in literal sunlight — take regular breaks (15 mins for each hour or so in the sun).
  • Wear sunscreen — dry-touch, SPF 45+.
  • T-shirts and pools don’t figure — you still require to wear sunscreen.
  • Drink plenty of water — supplement brew and wine with water.
  • Exfoliate and moisturize — proper aftercare is necessary.
  • Get plenty of sleep — restore your skin.

Summer is a season to get outside, enjoy the world and contribute time with friends and family. Part of being ready to do that year after year, though, requires being smart with wherewith you take care of your skin during the warm months. Don’t leave something to chance, and don’t think that it won’t happen to you, just be active, be safe, and have fun. 🙂
